About the Candidate
Mike laird
Mike Laird has spent his life serving Big Horn County, in uniform, in business, and in his community. After 37 years with the Wyoming Army National Guard, retiring as Command Sergeant Major in 2021. Mike built and ran Laird Saniation for 19 years, a local business that served this county until he sold it in January 2026.
"I've been asked more than once to run. The time is right. This is about giving back to the place I love."
Now, in semi-retirement, Mike is ready to bring that same discipline, accountability, and hands-on work ethic to the Big Horn County Commission. He's not a politician. He's a neighbor who knows how to lead, how to manage a budget, and how to get things done for the people who live here.
Mike is motivated by one thing: ensuring the financial security and prosperity of Big Horn County for the people who call it home.
What Laird Stands For
Platform
01
Fiscal Responsibility
Big Horn County is in a budget-cut year. Mike knows how to manage money; he ran a successful business for 19 years and led large military operations on tight resources. He will bring that same discipline to county budgets: no waste, no fluff, and no spending that doesn't serve the people of this county. Every dollar stays local.
02
Education & Youth Development
"We have a community responsibility for the development of our children to be better adults." Mike is committed to supporting education and growth programs, especially trades and vocational training for young people. The next generation of Big Horn County needs real skills and real opportunities right here at home.
03
Community Voice
The Commissioner's job is to work with, not over, the people of Big Horn County. Mike will collaborate with fellow commissioners to find solutions that actually work and make sure every part of the county has a voice at the table. No BS. Results for the people who live here.
